The Imagineers Room
Where Big School Becomes the Next Natural Step
By age four, children are asking bigger questions, imagining bigger stories, and developing a stronger sense of who they are. In our Imagineers Room, we support that growing independence and curiosity while preparing each child for a confident, happy start to school.
Whether your child has grown with us from day one or is joining us just for Kindy, this is the final, important step before formal schooling begins. Our focus is simple: build on everything they’ve learned so far and help them step into the next chapter ready, excited, and capable.
Bringing It All Together
At this stage, children benefit from routines they know and trust. We keep using familiar tools like visual timetables and mat session guidelines to help them feel settled and in control of their day.
That structure gives them the freedom to focus on what matters. They can explore ideas, ask bold questions, and take their learning further. When they know what’s coming next, they can fully engage with what’s happening now.
From Letters to Real Reading
In the Imagineers Room, literacy takes a leap forward. We continue using trusted programs like Letterland and Lip-sync, then bring in ABC Reading Eggs to help bridge the gap into full reading confidence.
It’s all phonics- and sight-word-based, aligned with the early school curriculum. But we’re not here to push kids ahead for the sake of it. We create rich, age-appropriate experiences that help each child connect the dots at their own pace.
We also keep building communication skills through Sign Language, because offering more than one way to communicate supports stronger learning for every child.
STEM That Sparks Real Thinking
At four, kids want to know how everything works. Our STEM program channels this curiosity into hands-on problem-solving and playful exploration.
Activities include:
- Experiments that spark “aha” moments
- Building and testing structures
- Exploring textures and materials
- Making predictions and working through trial and error
We don’t just teach science. We help children think like scientists, engineers, and creative problem-solvers.
Music and Movement That Supports Learning
Our Kids n’ Music sessions go deeper here, drawing on strategies from occupational therapy, speech therapy, psychology, and kinesiology.
These sessions help with:
- Focus and emotional regulation
- Auditory development that supports literacy
- Gross and fine motor skills needed for writing
- Relaxation and self-awareness
It might look like fun, but it’s building strong foundations in the brain that support school and life success.
Building Independence and Healthy Habits
At this age, independence really matters. We support each child in managing their belongings, making good food choices, and navigating safety in and out of the classroom.
We use:
- Get Up & Grow to talk about food and nutrition
- KIDDO Play Active to support physical literacy and movement
- SDERA Road Safety to build awareness and confidence
- Active Alphabet to connect movement with literacy
These programs are more than just lessons. They are part of everyday routines that help children feel capable, strong, and confident in themselves.
Social Skills and Emotional Readiness
We place a huge emphasis on emotional intelligence and social development. Because success at school isn’t just about reading and counting.
We teach kids how to:
- Join in group play
- Ask for help
- Handle frustration
- Listen and respond
- Understand other people’s feelings
Using tools like the Kimochi Feelings Kit and the PALS Program (with puppets and stories), we help each child build a strong emotional toolkit they’ll keep building on for years to come.
Preparing for the Meta-Moment
We introduce children to the idea of the “meta-moment”. That small pause between a big feeling and the choice they make next. This is where emotional self-regulation begins.
We help children:
- Name their emotions
- Recognise how others feel
- Make good decisions in the moment
- Practice empathy and perspective-taking
These are big ideas, but we guide children through them in age-appropriate, practical ways.
Confidence Through Consolidation
Everything in the Imagineers Room builds on what’s come before. But more than just reviewing, we connect ideas across areas of learning to create a real sense of mastery.
It’s the moment where it all clicks. Children begin to realise what they’re capable of and that’s when confidence really grows.
We celebrate every milestone. And we make sure every child leaves feeling proud, prepared, and ready for the next step.
School-Ready, Life-Ready
Our end goal is simple. We want to send children off to “big school” feeling good about themselves, excited to learn, and equipped with the tools they need to thrive.
The Imagineers Room brings everything together. Curiosity, creativity, care, and community all come together in one powerful year of growth.
We’d love to show you how we make the final step toward school something truly special.
