Kids College is a quality childcare centre with an EXCEEDING THE NATIONAL STANDARDS rating on the old system in 2016 and again on the new system in 2019. Kids College is proudly owned and managed by the Scafidas family. We were very lucky and finally had our dream come true, to create a wonderful loving childcare for children to enjoy and for parents to trust.

Nicholas and Craig Scafidas are our Directors, Wendy is our Administration Manger and Jennifer is our Manager, Nominated Supervisory Officer and Educational Leader. Our beautiful 19-year-old and 17-year-old daughters provide a child’s perspective. With such a strong involved management team it is important to all of us to choose dedicated early childhood education professionals to work with.

We have a unique system where we have a large job share team that is fully trained with us and works exclusively with us. This ensures people who know and love your children are here each and every day and there is no need for relief staff from outside our centre. This has become especially important during Covid times ensuring we are fully staffed at all times, people who need to take leave can do so and we are separated from any germs that might be lurking in the community.

Our staffing team is highly qualified and most importantly have a love for children and a passion for childcare in their blood. Kids College is our third child and we welcome you to our centre. We send our children home every day having experienced love, laughter and learning.

Our Kids College staffing team

Kids College has a core team of permanent full-time educators across our four rooms and a part time job share team. Each team member gets a few fixed days each week and works in different roles on different days. When one of our team need a day off, we have the advantage of calling on any of our job share team who know and love all of our Kids College children. Non contact covers us for time off floor for educators to use to plan their incredible experiences and being fully covered whilst doing so. Room cover staff cover for staff lunches and some non contact time aswell. To see who is on duty just check the notice board in our entrance foyer each day as you come in. This system also ensures we are upholding our exceptional hygiene practices and there isn’t any cross contamination of germs from any other centre that relief staff from an agency might bring. This job share system ensures a good life work balance and allows for time to study and follow our early childhood educator career path and build skills so we can be the very best we can be.

During her high school years, she worked multiple jobs across all different industries and found she was most passionate working with people and especially young children. At some points Jade was working 4 jobs plus school, so she found many ways to de-stress including going to the gym, reading, and going on nature walks. She has a big extended family with her Mum having 9 siblings and her Dad having 5 siblings, she 2 brothers of her own, and they all share a split culture with her dad being Italian, German and Irish and her Mum is Indonesian and Chinese. She is most excited to join Kids College’s tight-knit community to not only live my passion but to also build strong connections with the lovely, diverse staff and children here.

Chanel (Wednesdays and Fridays in Toddlers) joined the team at Kids College in 2023. She is part of the job share team. Chanel is studying for her Certificate III in Children’s Services. She was born in Perth, travelled around Australia when she was young and lived in Queensland with her family for three years before settling back in Perth. Chanel has a very spoilt greyhound called Manu who is her ‘not so little’ baby. While she was at school, she worked part time as a party host at two local play centres. She loved being able to put a smile on the children’s faces and witness their excitement as they joined in games, shared cake and played together. There was even more excitement when she put on the crocodile suit and joined them for a dance in the Disco Room. She has always enjoyed working with young people and feel that working in an early childhood setting is a perfect fit for her. She is very much looking forward to being part of the lives and learning journey of the little people in our care here at Kids College.

Hannah (Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays) joined the Kids College team in 2024. She is part of the job share team, mainly in the Toddlers room. Hannah is currently studying a Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood degree. Before deciding that she belonged in early childhood, she started a Bachelor of Education in Primary for three years, but consistently got told that she should try early childhood and now here she is and she says she loves it.  Hannah has worked in a couple of different childcare centers in the northern suburbs of Perth and has worked as an education assistant in schools. To relax you can find her at the beach or in the garden. She loves gardening and sharing this love with children as it was shared with her when I was little. Hannah strongly believe in children’s rights and their right to express their voice and choices. It does take a village to raise a child, so she feels excited to be part of this Kids College village and watching the children grow and learn.

Claire Scafidas (weekends and school holidays as needed) has been at Kids College her whole life. She is one of Jennifer and Craig’s daughters. She loves to help at Kids College in the classrooms weekdays when she is on school holidays and is part of our maintenance team during weekends. Claire was almost two when we started Kids College so she gained her early childhood education here, then graduated to the academic extension program in her school and is currently in Year 10 in 2022. She has many diverse interests, including teaching, medicine and computer technology. She enjoys netball, javelin, volleyball, hanging out with her friends and snuggling up with our two dogs. She has done hair and make up for school productions, has helped coach netball, is a peer support leader at her school and likes to help make people feel welcome. She enjoys every moment she spends with children and is so happy to be able to spend her days with your little people having fun. Claire believes it’s important that children learn in a friendly, safe environment full of fun happy moments.
